A recent addition to my tank it a system that lifts the lighting out of the way so that I can perform tank maintenance. While many tanks I have seen utilize a rail system, to slide the lights to the side I did not have the space to use this type of system (it would have moved the light right above my head).

After some investigation I came across a VERY cool system using a linear actuator. The equipment was purchased at Firgelli Automations and consist of:

1 Linear Actuator 18" Stroke 150lb Force Linear Actuator ([FA-150-S-12-18]
1 Power Adapter
1 Actuator Electrical wiring and control kit

I should have purchased a switch (also available at the same site) but I made a mistake and thought that it was included in the wiring kit and didn't notice that it did not until unpacking box. A quick trip to my local RadioShack and that problem was solved.

This is what the equipment looked like fresh out of the box:

Power supply and wiring kit Linear actuator

Installation went quick and smooth though

Linear actuator Pulley system Cables
Finally, the finished assembly in operations...

and what goes up must go down...
